In 2012, I took in my adopted son, Trevor when he was in the first grade. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). We began a three-year journey of chemo treatments and spinal taps.

In 2014, Trevor was asked to be the boy of the year for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in Knoxville Tennessee. I had heard of LLS for many years but it wasn't until Trevor was diagnosed that I learned about all the incredible work they do.

In Trevor’s second year of treatment he was able to attend our local Light The Night walk and we have participated every year since. We are both proud that he was able to represent LLS and survivors.

LLS does an amazing job through the LTN walks and various other events throughout the year, and we continue to attend as many LLS events as we can. We hope that when Trevor is older he himself can run for Man of the Year! I cannot thank the LLS foundation enough for their endless work and support they have given to me and my now adopted son during our fight with cancer, we have made lifetime friends and the support we have been given is truly priceless.
