"I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) in 1993 before today's life-saving medications were available.
I was only 31 years old and a mother of 2 small children and I was terrified I wouldn't see them grow up! I became very ill with treatment the first 6 years and then enrolled in a clinical trial for Gleevec, the fastest drug ever approved by the FDA, and then began to slowly get my life back. Because of the money raised by "Light the Night" and other special events benefitting LLS, I am now in total remission and have seen my children (27 & 30) graduate from high school, college, get married, and my ultimate dream...to become a grandmother!
LLS has always had a special place in my heart and I am forever grateful for their contribution to my life story.
