Juliana

Survivor

Houston, Texas

  • Print

On December 31, 2021, Juliana was diagnosed with b-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia, or ALL. Juliana was rushed to the ICU and received 4 blood transfusions that night because her hemoglobin was at a 2.8, compared to 10 and 14 grams per deciliter, which is the normal level for a child her age. The next morning after being diagnosed, Juliana had a spinal tap, a bone marrow aspiration to pull out the marrow to test from her hip, and there were teams of oncologists and specialists swarming with updates.  Juliana has endured so much pain physically and mentally during her chemo treatment, but she did not let that take away her beautiful smile. Juliana loves unicorn, bluey, Legos, playdoh kits, crafts and Magna-tiles.

Today, Juliana is enrolled in a clinical trial taking a drug that has been very successful. She is in a phase of treatment called Interim Maintenance One, and she is doing great. She is doing great because of the work of LLS and the amazing donors who continues to raise critical funds for the Mission.
