As a mission-driven health organization, the safety and well-being of blood cancer patients, their families, and the many staff, volunteers, donors, partners, and campaign participants who serve them is our top priority. With this in mind, we are taking special safety measures at our Light The Night events this Fall. Here is what you can expect on site if you choose to Light The Night with us in person on September 23, 2021 at Washington Park.
Participants will be required to submit a quick wellness screening before picking up their lantern. The screening will be accessible at the event via your mobile device. We will also share the screening link one day pre-event via email. On site, we are asking all participants to sanitize, social distance and facial coverings are strongly recommended for all.
In addition to our in-person event offering, the Denver Light The Night will also take place virtually on September 30, 2021 at 7pm. We strongly advise patients, regardless of their vaccination status, to participate in our virtual event rather than attending in person. We also advise individuals who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including children under the age of 12, to participate virtually. All registered participants will receive an email with instructions for joining our virtual Light The Night experience the week leading up to the event.
Regardless of your chosen format, we will Light The Night and bring light to the darkness of cancer together!
DATE: September 23, 2021
LOCATION: Washington Park, Denver in between E Tennessee Ave and E Kentucky Ave.
PARKING: Parking can be found in the neighborhood surrounding Washington Park. The South High School West parking lot will be available for additional parking after 5pm (1700 E. Louisiana Ave.) St. John’s School parking lot will also be available for parking after 5:30pm (700 S Franklin St, Denver, CO 80209)
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
5:30 PM – Festival Activities Begin
7:15 PM – Opening Ceremony Begins
7:30 PM – Walk Begins (immediately after Opening Ceremony)
8:30 PM – Event Ends
How long is the walk? The walk is approximately one mile on a paved path and is wheelchair, stroller and scooter accessible. Participants are not required to walk and are welcome to stay at the festival site until the event ends.
What if there is weather on event day? The in-person event is rain or shine.
Are dogs allowed? Yes
Can participants turn in donations at the event? Yes, participants can turn in donations at the Donation Collection tent at the event.
