Local Leadership
We are currently recruiting our 2009 leadership teams!
We are recruiting for members of our Volunteer Planning Committees for all three Walksites. If you are interested in being involved with this incredible event, please contact Lynn Haag at 813.963.6461 (x 23). Our three fall walks are currently scheduled for:
- Pinellas: October 10, 2009; Spa Beach Park in St. Petersburg
- Sarasota: October 24, 2009; Payne Park
- Tampa: November 7, 2009; George M. Steinbrenner Field
The major responsibilities of the Volunteer Planning Committee members:
- Invite new contacts to form teams for the Light The Night Walk and to attend the kickoff event (held approximately 8 weeks before the Walk date).
- Form a team of your own to set a positive example as you encourage others to participate.
- Work with the Light The Night staff to conduct ongoing communication to motivate and support new teams.
- Recruit sponsors (both cash and in-kind) for the Light The Night Walk.
- Be an advocate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!
The major responsibilities of the Corporate Walk Chair:
- Organize a large team of walkers to participate in the Light the Night Walk.
- Encourage participation from clients, staff and associates.
- Host the Corporate Recruitment Reception for area business leaders.
- Endorse Light the Night publicly at the Corporate Recruitment Reception, Kick-Off Event and night-of-event.
- Attend Light the Night Walk and give opening remarks.
- Recommend corporate business contacts for sponsorship and team recruitment.

Ana Veronica Vidal
Kane's Furniture Corporation
Ana Vidal is the Corporate Human Resources Director for Kane's Furniture Corporation. Ana is a survivor of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia and has recently been crowned the 2009 Ms. Florida Global U.S. Woman. She has been a devoted volunteer to a number of charities and organizations since 1990 including All Children's Hospital, the Jackson Memorial Hospital's Adopt a Floor volunteer program and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She has two children - her son, Blas (22) and her daughter, Veronica (16). Ana says, "Out of difficulties grow miracles! Together we can accomplish them."
