Finding out that your child has leukemia is heart-breaking and terrifying, however we know that we are not alone in this fight. Upon Whitney’s diagnosis her daycare teachers immediately jumped into action and formed a team for the Light the Night walk to show their support for Whitney and to help raise awareness. Through our family’s involvement with LLS we hope to continue to raise awareness and to educate our community about how they can get involved and help make a difference.
Watching Whitney deal with cancer has been truly inspirational. She was one month shy of her 3rd birthday when we found out she has cancer and of course she didn’t understand the gravity of her diagnosis. She has her moments where she is frustrated and is sick of being in this situation, but she is strong and she is a fighter. Her sisters have definitely helped keep her active and have helped her stay her vibrant, whimsical self. Aside from the hair loss, most days you wouldn’t know that she is fighting for her life.
We are honored that Whitney has been given an opportunity to share her story. We know that others will be inspired by her strength, determination and resilience in fighting and beating cancer.
