Honored Patients

Our Inspirations...Our Heroes

The Honored Hero Program at our local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Chapter is open to children and adult blood cancer patients and survivors of all ages.  Our Honored Heroes are the inspiration behind all of our campaigns, they are the reason we do what we do at LLS.  We Walk, Run, Train, Endure, and Succeed all in honor of these amazing patients.  Once part of the program, the patient has many opportunities to meet other families and patients of a similar age and diagnosis.  There are minimal speaking engagements sometimes involved with the program, as well as many opportunites to have your picture on marketing and advertising for various campaigns.  We are always looking for new Honored Heroes to become part of this special program.  For more information, please contact our Patient Services Manager and Honored Hero program coordinator, Jackie Personett, MSW at jacqueline.personett@lls.org.

 Max Honored Hero 2012

"Max joined our family in the Summer 2008.   An active boy from Day 1, he quickly (too quickly!) developed into a hard-charging, blond headed toddler.  Max was always interested in and into everything he saw!  Like many young boys, Max had a wide range of interest; cars, trains, trucks, and unlike his parents, he loved to dance to music, shaking his booty all around the kitchen!

Just after Max's 2nd birthday passed, everything changed.  Maximilian was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Our lives thrown into a tailspin, we quickly learned a new lifestyle-one centered around Max's chemotherapy.  After a tough summer, fall, and winter, we began to re-group. Max's little sister joined our family, changing the family dynamic once more.  Max was declared to be in remission in the Spring of 2011, and is now in the maintenance phase of his treatment.

Maximilian is now nearing his 4th birthday, and is a boisterous, rambunctious little boy who is into everything, absorbing everything he sees.  He loves his cars now more than ever, but now identifying them with his full sized counterparts!  He loves everything he does, always in motion, and dancing every day!"
