HONORED HEROes: OUR INSPIRATION

Matthew

Matthew, who will turn three in August, was diagnosed in July of 2007 with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). He keeps his parents, Michael and Rosalie, busy with doctors appointments and the typical antics of an almost 3 year old little boy.  And all boy he is! Matthew enjoys playing with his older sister, Christina, who is 8 years old.  As if dealing with the leukemia wasn't enough, he recently fractured his arm while playing a bit too rambunctously!  The little cast did nothing to slow him down though.  Some of his other hobbies include riding his bike, playing outside and playing with his dinosaurs and little trains.  He loves Elmo, Big Bird and Sponge Bob.  Matthew has just begun his Standard Maintenance Phase of chemotherapy which will last for almost three years. He and his family hope that he will be feeling well enough to join the walk in October.

Mark

On January 31st 2006, Mark was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Today, Mark is Cancer free! Mark is a native of Eden, NC and a graduate of North Carolina State but he’s lived in Savannah for the past 15 years. He works at International Paper and is married to Karin with a 2 ½ year old son, Bennett. Mark is an active participant in the Savannah chapter of the LLS support group.
