Congratulations to our light the night Honorary Chair
Cliff Lee Wins Prestigious American League Cy Young Award
On November 13, 2008, our Light The Night Honorary Chair and Cleveland Indians pitcher, Cliff Lee, won the American League Cy young Award. Pitching a remarkable 22-3 season, Lee was a favorite to win the prestigious prize. Cliff is a champion both on and off the field. Under the leadership of Cliff and his wife Kristen, the Northern Ohio Light The Night Walks have raised $1.1 million since they became invovled in 2006 to further the LLS mission.

Special Thanks to Cliff Lee and WKNR for helping us raise $7,000 
On September 3, 2008, Cliff Lee graciously dedicated his afternoon to sign autographs for fans and LLS supporters at AJ Rocco's in downtown Cleveland. The event was a tremendous fundraising with hundreds of individuals attending, raising $7,000 in just two hours. For the past three years, Cliff and his wife Kristen serve as Honorary Chairs for the Northern Ohio Light The Night Walks. This event has special meaning to the Lee family as their sox Jaxon was diagnosed with leukemia at just four months old. Jaxon is now 7 years old, and is in remission.

LLS nationwide annual evening walk that celebrates and commemorates people whose lives have been touched by blood cancers. During the walks, participants carry illuminated balloons - white for survivors and red for supporters. In 2007, the Light the Night Walks raised more than $39 million nationwide for research and patient services. Over the last 15 years, research strides have dramatically increased patient survival rates through advances in chemotherapy, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation and new targeted therapies.
