Light the Night FAQs

Thank you for your interest in the Light The Night Walk.  We have included some useful information and materials to make your Light The Night experience the best ever!  If you have any questions please call 1-800-822-CURE.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q:  Where does the money raised for Light The Night go?
A:   72 cents of every dollar raised directly supports our mission!

Q:  How do I register for the 2008 Light The Night Walk?
A:  You can register over the phone by calling (800) 822-2873, fill out a Light The Night brochure, or register on line. 

Q:  If I walked last year, do I have to register again?
A:  Yes, you must register each year you intend to participate. 

Q:  How long is the walk?
A:  The walk route is 2 to 3 miles depending on the walk site.

Q:  How long will the walk take?
A:  It depends on how fast you walk.  A relaxed normal pace takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour.

Q:  What constitutes a team?
A:  Two participants constitutes a team but we encourage you to invite as many family, friends and co-workers as you can.  The average team includes 8 walkers.

Q:  How is the money collected?
A:  Each team member is responsible for collecting funds from supporters and giving these funds to the Team Captain or sending them to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Central PA Chapter Office.  If you are an individual walker, you can bring your full collection envelope to Bank Day, turn your funds in the day of the Walk, or mail your funds raised to the address below.  Please be sure to indicate your name, walk site, and team name so you get the appropriate credit for raising funds.

Q: How should I handle a matching gift?
A: Check with your company to see if they have a matching gifts program and inquire about how to apply.  Make sure to inform the Light The Night staff that you will be receiving a matching gift.  Matching gifts are a great way to double (or event triple) your funds raised! 

Q: Can I run?
A: The event is designed for walkers, so we ask that you please be careful when passing them.

Q: Can I bike the route?
A: For the safety of walkers, cycling & roller blading is not allowed at any of our walk sites.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society does offer cycling events through Team In Training.  For more information about these events please visit the Web site at www.teamintraining.org/cpa  

Q:  Do we still walk if it rains?
A: Yes!   We walk rain or shine.  If the weather is severe, the staff may decide to cancel or postpone the event.  We will post any changes to the walk date and time on our web page.

Q: Are strollers allowed?
A:  Yes, strollers and wagons are encouraged at all walk sites.

Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Yes, pets are allowed as long as they remain on a leash at all times.

Q: Can we accept Credit Card pledges?
