Fundraising Timeline

New to fundraising or looking for new ideas?  You have come to the right place.  This guide will outline an overall strategy for planning and executing a successful campaign leading up to the walk. 

A year to 4 Months Out:

  • Register for the walk at www.lightthenight.org/wa
  • Publicize your involvement in Light The Night through company emails, posters, direct communication, newsletters, meetings, and mailbox filers
  • Form a team.  Recruit team members from your employee base and their families
  • Set a goal to strive toward
  • Place a change jar in the office so people can begin to contribute to your goal

3 Months Out:

  • Hold a fundraiser to jump start your campaign (i.e. bake sale, car wash etc.)
  • Begin selling paper balloons to vendors, clients, or around the office
    • Balloons can be purchased for $1, $5 or any donation
    • Hang them in break rooms, cubicles, or windows
  • Begin selling wristbands, car magnets, or Plushland bears to employees, family members, children's classmates

2 Months Out:

  • Hold another fundraiser to continue the momentum
  • Continue selling balloons or wrap items

1 Month Out:

  • Hold one last fundraiser with a push toward reaching your individual goal
  • Finish selling Balloons or other fundraising items
  • Attend Bank Day to turn in funds and receive all food ticket, incentive items, etc.

Attending the Light The Night Walk:

  • Arrive early to take advantage of complimentary food, beverages, entertainment, and children's activities
  • Be prepared for a fun, relaxing event ending with the evening walk to honor those who have been touched by blood cancers
  • Take a deep breath, enjoy your day, and celebrate your achievements!
