Wrap Around Events

Wrap Around events are team internal fundraising events that help build team spirit and raise more money. Below are examples of great team "wraps." The possibilities are not limited to this list. Get creative and make participating in Light The Night®  an event you and your team members and other co-workers are excited to be a part of.

 Out to Lunch
Everyone needs to eat lunch, so why not get something more out of it? Plan a group lunch at a local restaurant. Contact the manager in advance to see if they will donate a percentage of the proceeds for every person you bring n to eat. You can invite not only your office, but other companies that you work with or that are located nearby.

 Brown Bag Days
Have employees bring a brown bag lunch and donate the cost of what they would have spent at the cafeteria or on going out. Make it a picnic atmosphere.

 Yard Sale
Ask friends, family, co-workers and neighbors to clean out their closets, garages, basements or attics and contribute what they no longer want for a year sale. All of the proceeds can go toward your team's fundraising goal. Corporate teams can ask on employee to host the sale, but all members of the team can sign up to work hourly time slots. You can also use different colored stickers to track the sales if you want to record individual amounts raised.

 Hold a Lottery
Design a board with numbers from one to one hundred (or higher depending on the size of your organization or company). Put together a themed gift basket and display it near the board. Ask everyone who comes to the office to buy their favorite number. When every number has been picked, draw a winner!

Candy Bar/ Candy Sale  Who doesn't need an afternoon pick-me-up? Rather than paying the vending machine, have money to toward your team's fundraising efforts!

 Dress Down Days
Ask the management of your company if you can have a Dress Down Day. In exchange for a donation, employees can participate in a Friday Light The Night Dress Down Day, Shorts day, Tacky Tourist Day, Clash Dress Day, etc.

 Film Canisters
Tell your team members or employees at work to take an empty film canister and fill it with quarters. Each container holds around $3 in quarters.

 Food, Food and More FOOD
Encourage your teammates to hold bake sales (donuts, cookies, cakes, pies), sub sales, pizza sales or a barbeque or ice cream social. Local grocery stores will normally let people sell baked goods in front of the store. Call your local store today and raise some easy money.

 Workin' at the Car Wash
Hold a car wash somewhere in your community. You can charge a set price or ask for donations for each car. Many people will be more generous if you do not ask for a specific amount.

 Executive Car Wash
Ask your corporate executives to wash their employees' cars during a lunch hour or one weekend day.

 Wall Of Fame
Put up a large, colorful "Looks Who's Walking on Our Team" poster with baby pictures of those employees who have signed up to walk. Also put up current pictures of walkers. Have everyone donate a dollar and guess whose baby picture is whose. The winner could also receive a small prize, i.e. a Light The Night T-shirt, an extra break or a gift certificate.
Going once, going twice  At your office, in your neighborhood, at church, etc., ask people for donations of unique gifts or homemade food and hold an auction (silent or live) to give them away. display the items with a description (or a tantalizing clue) and hold the auction at a convenient time and location.

 Parking Space Raffle
Sell tickets for the prime parking spot at your office. After a set period of time (one to two weeks) draw a winner and they will be the envy of the entire office. Other "prizes" could include days off or company apparel.

 Doggie Walk
Offer to walk the neighborhood dogs. Or, plan a 5K walk for the neighborhood. Include a pet washing station, certificates of completions and/or a Polaroid photo station.

 Raffles
Each walker who raises $100 gets their name dropped into a box for a prize drawing. The prize could be a gift certificate to a restaurant, tickets to a sporting event, the use of the boss' parking space for a week or permission to dress casual for a week.

 Mini-Festivals
Plan an in-house company fun day or week. Schedule activities during coffee breaks and lunch hours. Activities could include a pie throwing or eating contest, a dunking machine, tug of war between departments, etc.

 Sports Tournaments
Set up challenge matches between individuals or departments for basketball, softball, football or fishing! Charge an entry fee and admission fee. Sell refreshments at the event.

 T-Shirt Contest
Create a competition between departments to design the company's T-shirts for the Light The Night Walk. The department that wins can receive a pizza, sub or ice cream party.

 50/50 Raffle
Hold a 50/50 raffle. Half of the proceeds go to the Light The Night team and the other half goes to the winner of the raffle.

 Make a game of it
Divide members or employees into teams of two or three and offer a prize to the team that raises the most money. Post the team totals in a central location so everyone can keep track of the fun!

 Ask, ask, ask
Most importantly, just ask! Don't forget people like your doctor, dentist, hairdresser, or mechanic. If you frequent their business they may be willing to help with your cause. Always remember to send them a thank you or something they can display to show that they contributed to the Society. Even if they can't make a donation, ask them if they are willing to hang up posters or put out brochures. We can provide you with these materials.
