Team Basics

Teams play an integral part in the success of the Light The Night Walk. Our teams are responsible for raising nearly 75 percent of the funds collected at our Walks.

There are three main types of teams:

  • National: Corporations form a team on a national level
  • Local: Corporations form a team on a local level.
  • Family/Friends: Family and friends get together to form a team.

We encourage you to invite family and friends to walk on your corporate team or have co-workers walk on your family and friends team. Walking is more fun when your are with a large crowd!

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will provide you with a Team Captain Kit that will give you all of the tools you need to create a successful Light The Night team.

Why Form a Team?

In 2007, more than 150 teams participated in our chapter's Light The Night events and raised $385,000! Co-workers, friends and family or a combination of all three can make up the ranks of a team. The average team consists of 7 team members and raises an average of over $2,000.

Walking as a team benefits your organization in a number of ways:

  • Builds morale, a natural byproduct among people who represent organizations that are community-minded
  • Promotes teamwork in your organization
  • Enhances good will in cities and towns where your organization participates
  • Provides a fun and healthy activity for everyone.
  • Provides satisfaction in knowing that you are contributing to finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.
  • Creates camaraderie that comes from working toward a common objective.

By forming a Light The Night Walk team, you have the opportunity to help in a meaningful way. Team spirit and cooperation will keep team members energized and committed to their purpose and fundraising goals and create a sense of good will, fellowship and achievement. The chapter staff will work with your team every step of the way! Register your team today!
