Initiate a Letter Writing Campaign: The personal appeal letter is the most efficient way to raise money. Write letters to your family, friends and co-workers to tell them what you are doing and to ask for their support and/or participation. 

Fundraise Online: Now you can recruit donors through our online fundraising tools. Once you are registered, if you provided an email address you are automatically set up with a Light The Night Fundraising Webpage. Friends and family can donate to your webpage via a secure credit card transaction. It's quick and easy for both you and your donors.  

Thank Your Donors:  Follow-up is crucial! You should always send a thank-you letter to your donors following the Walk. This is the perfect time to inform them of your overall success.

Keep it Fun:  Kickoff parties and fundraising events are essential to the success of your team, and they help to keep team members motivated. Perhaps most importantly, wraparound events are a fun way to raise money. You should never forget the fun in fundraising!

Your Personal Fundraising Website

Once you have registered for the Light The Night® Walk, you can begin Fundraising Online! Everyone who registers with an email address will receive an email from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with a username and password to help you create your own personal Light The Night Fundraising Webpage.

Online fundraising is quick and easy way to let your friends and family world-wide know that you are participating in Light The Night and donations can be made straight to the website!

Here is how you access your fundraising webpage:

1. Go to the Light The Night homepage.
2. Click on "LOG IN to your personal fundraising page"
3. Enter your username and password and click "GO"
4. Click on "Fundraising Online" next to "2007- (walk site)"

This takes you to your Light The Night Fundraising Headquarters, from which you can manage your fundraising web page, change text, enter your individual fundraising goal, track offline donations and more. This is not your page itself! The link for your actual page can be found at the top of this page, and should appear as www.active.com/donate/ltnAlexan/ltn[LastName]. 

Your page is already set up for you, so any changes you make are optional. You can email the link to your page to friends, family and colleagues,  and invite them to make a secure online donation to your fundraising campaign! Funds raised online count towards both your individual fundraising goal and your team's fundraising total!

MATCHING GIFTS CAN DOUBLE YOUR FUNDRAISING!

What is a matching gift?

• When a company matches, doubles or triples a charitable donation made by an employee and/or spouse.
• Matching gifts are an easy way for people to increase the impact of their personal contribution and boost individual fundraising totals.

how does it work?

•  Ask your donors to check if their company has a matching gift program. They can ask their HR department. 
• When they make a donation they can request and complete the company's matching gift form.
• If the company has a matching gifts program inform them of the donation.
• Request a matching gift form from the company.
• Please indicate on the matching gift form and on the memo section of the donation the purpose of the contribution (e.g. Light The Night - Name of Participant - Madison, 2006).
• Send the matching gift form and the donation to the New Jersey Chapter address below.
• If the donation was made online, simply send the print out receipt of the donation with the matching gift form to:

• After the Society recieves the matching gift form and proof of donation we will verify your gift and return the form to your company, who will then issue the match directly to the Society.
