Great Fundraising Ideas

Wrap-Around Fundraisers or "Wraps" are fundraisers that your team can hold to increase awareness and raise extra money to fight blood cancers.  Wraps can be internal fundraisers such as bake sales, or you can take that extra step and implement one of our National Wrap Programs throughout your company and community.  You'll find a brief description of each National Wrap Program below.  Please call the Mid-America Chapter at 913-262-1515 for more information.

Glow Products -  www.ltn.emblemax.net
Customer Service Information: Email: joe@emblemax.com, Phone: 800-410-0200
Help Light The Night Walk by selling one of our great glow products, including flashlights, glow sticks, necklaces, bracelets and blinking stars.  These fun items range in price from $1 - $2.

Recycling Program - www.lightthenightrecycling.com
This program allows both your employees and customers fight blood cancers and helps the environment by recycling printer, fax, copy machine cartridges and cell phones.  Money raised varies from $.50 to almost $3 per item.  What's even better is that all recycling materials and shipping costs are free to any Light The Walk Team & Partner!  Finally, this program is fully automated so that all the tracking is done for you.

Matching Gifts
Check with your company to see if they participate in a matching gifts program.  This is an easy and effective way to double or triple your money with only one effort!

Parties
Parties are a great way to make fundraising more fun!  There are endless themes and variations on this idea, from cocktail receptions to a happy hour.  Many places will provide food and drinks at a discounted rate.  Once a place and rate is established you can determine how much you should charge in order to make a profit.  Another idea is to incorporate a raffle into the party.  Many businesses will donate raffle items.

Doggie Walk
A 5K walk with your dog or other pet.  Include a pet washing station, certificates of completions and/or a Polaroid photo station.

Sports Tournaments
Set up challenge matches between individuals or departments for basketball, softball, football or fishing.  Charge an entry fee and admission fee.  Sell refreshments at the event.

Coin Canisters
Set them up anywhere you can get permission.  Wrap them with a strip of paper that explains the mission of the Society and Light The Night Walk and check periodically for donations.

Car Washes
Great way to include teens and kids into fundraising while staying cool in the summer heat.

Sell Your Services
Offer to clean gutters, mow lawns or run errands for neighbors for a donation.

Sell Doughnuts
Spend a Saturday or Sunday morning selling doughnuts outside a coffee shop (with the shop owners' permission).

Dress Down Day at Work
Have co-workers donate $5 to "dress down" in jeans or favorite sports apparel for a day!  Contact the Society office for stickers to pass out to participating employees.

Garage Sale
Plan a garage sale to add to your fundraising efforts.  Clean out your closets and get team members to donate items.

Bowl-a-thon
Contact local bowling alleys to plan a bowl-a-thon event.

50/50 Raffle
Collect money from co-workers on a Friday afternoon.  The winning raffle ticket wins 50 percent of the proceeds for weekend spending money and the other 50 percent goes towards your fundraising.

Swear Jar
Set a jar up where anytime someone utters a swear word, he or she has to put a donation into the jar.

Business Raffle
Co-workers can earn money by raffling the following:

  1. A member of your company's management team mows your yard, shovels your snow, etc.
  2. Trade jobs with the CEO for the day.
  3. Dinner at the boss's home.
  4. Free lunch with the boss.
  5. Give out apparel with the company logo.
  6. Provide VIP parking spaces.
  7. Give a day off.

Auctions
Plan your own auction to benefit Light The Night Walk.  Invite employees to collect and donate large used items, antiques, art, gift certificates, gift baskets, sporting equipment, restaurant certificates or just about anything that could be auctioned off to raise additional funds to support your team goal.

Golf Tournaments
Get your co-workers, clients, family and friends together for a great day of golf.  Regardless of the score, everyone wins at this tournament knowing they have helped raise money to fight cancer.

Brown Bag Days
Have employees bring a brown bag lunch and donate the cost of what they would have spent going out or in the cafeteria.  You can even provide drinks and dessert to make it more fun.

Executive Car Washes
Ask your corporate executives to wash their employees' cars during a lunch hour and all proceeds go towards the Light The Night Walk Team.

Mini-Festivals
Plan an in-house company fun day or week.  Schedule activities during coffee breaks and lunch hours.  Activities could include pie throwing (or eating) contests, a dunking machine, tug of war between departments, etc.

T-shirt Contest
Create a competition between departmental Captains to design the company's T-shirt.  The Captain with the winning design receives a free lunch with the boss.

Ask, Ask, Ask
Most importantly, just ask!  Don't forget to approach people like your doctor, dentist, hairdresser or mechanic.  If you frequent their business they may be willing to help with your cause.  Always remember to send them a thank you or something they can display to show that they contributed to the Society.  Even if they can't make a donation, ask them if they are willing to hang up posters or put out brochures.  Your local chapter can provide you with these materials.
