Wrap Around Events

Wrap Around events are team internal fundraising events that help build team spirit and raise more money. Below are examples of great team "wraps." The possibilities are not limited to this list. Get creative and make participating in Light The Night® an event everyone is excited to support!

Out to Lunch  Plan a group lunch at a local restaurant. Contact the manager in advance to see if they will donate a percentage of the proceeds for each new person you bring in to eat. You can invite not only your office, but other companies in your network or those located nearby.

Brown Bag Days  Have employees bring a brown bag lunch to work and donate the cost of what they would have spent in the cafeteria or local eatery.

Yard Sale  Ask friends, family, co-workers and neighbors to clean out their closets, garages, basements or lofts and contribute what they no longer need to an open sale. All proceeds can be added to the team's fundraising goal. Corporate teams can ask on employee to host the sale and members of the team can sign up to work hourly time slots.

Host A Lottery  Design a board with numbers from one to one hundred (or higher depending on the size of your organization or company). Put together a themed gift basket and display it near the board. Ask everyone who comes to the office to buy their favorite number. When every number has been selected, draw a winner!

Candy Bar/Candy Sale  Who doesn't need an afternoon boost? Rather than paying the vending machine, have a jar of your favorite sweets nearby and collect money for your team!

Dress Down Days  Ask the management of your company for a Dress Down Day. In exchange for a donation, employees can participate in a Friday Light The Night Dress Down Day, Shorts Day, Tacky Tourist Day, Clashing Dress Day, or get creative and create your own theme!

Workin' at the Car Wash  Hold a car wash somewhere in your community. You can charge a set price or ask for donations for each car. Many people will be more generous if you do not ask for a specific amount.

Executive Car Wash  Ask your corporate executives to wash their employees' cars during a lunch hour or weekend afternoon.

Parking Space Raffle  Sell tickets to win some time in the company's prime parking area. After a designated period of time select a winner who will become the envy of the office. Other "prizes" could include days off or company apparel.

Doggie Walking  Offer to walk the neighborhood dogs. Include a pet washing station, certificates of completion and/or a Polaroid photo station.

Raffles  Each walker who raises $100 is entered into a pool for a prize drawing. The prize could be a gift certificate to a restaurant, tickets to a sporting event, the use of the boss' parking space for a week or permission to dress casually on Fridays for a month.

Sports Tournaments  Set up challenge matches between individuals or departments for basketball, softball, football or fishing! Charge an small entry and admission fee. Provide refreshments at the event for a small donation.

T-Shirt Contest  Create a competition between departments to design the company's T-shirts for the Light The Night Walk. The department that wins can receive a pizza, sandwich or ice cream celebration.

Make A Game Of It  Divide members or employees into teams of two or three and offer a prize to the team that raises the most money. Post team totals in a central location so everyone can keep track of the fun!

Ask, ask, ask  Most importantly, just ask! Don't forget people like your doctor, dentist, hairdresser, or mechanic. If you frequent their business they may be willing to support your efforts. Always remember to send a thank you note or another item they can display to show their support of the Society. Even if they are unable to make a donation, ask if they are willing to display posters or brochures. The chapter will provide all of these materials for you.
