LlGHT THE NIGHT FUNDRAISING 101

  • Start early

  • Set a fundraising goal for you and your team

  • Send fundraising letters to your friends, co-workers, church members, relatives and holiday card list.

  • Make a personal pledge. When your family and friends see that you have supported the event they will be more willing to donate

  • Post a pledge sheet at work. This helps make donating easy for your co-workers.

  •

  • Have a pledge party at your home.

  • Ask & Receive – The No. 1 reason people give is because they were asked. Tell everyone you know that you are walking to fight Cancer and need their help.

  • E-mail Campaign – use technology to raise even more money. Send out an e-mail to all your friends from your online fundraising page, which will automatically include a link to your page. To login to your online fundraising page go to our Web site at www.lightthenight.org/wes.

  • Wraparound Events! Last year, thousands of walkers across the country baked, wore jeans, brown-bagged it and even washed cars to raise extra money to reach their goal. Here are some ideas:

              1.  Food, Food, & More FOOD!!! – Hold bake sales (donuts, cookies, cakes, pies) sub sales, pizza sales, a barbecue or ice cream social

                   2.  Balloon Icon Sales & Collection Jars – Ask your local corner store, supermarket or dry cleaner to help by putting out a collection jar.

                   3.  Car Washes – Hold a neighbourhood car wash.

                   4.  Garage Sales – Hold a neighbourhood garage sale with proceeds going to Light The Night®
