Shout It Out!!
Let people know that you are trying to find a cure for blood cancer. Post on social media that you have signed up for the Light The Night event and ask people to join you. If they can’t join see if they are willing to make a donation by posting your link to your fundraising page on facebook.
Every Champion always started with a goal. The best place to start is trying to beat the national average of $300. The basic steps you take in the next few weeks will ensure that you will reach $300. If you want to be ambushes then aim for $1000 and become one of our Bright Light Members. Now, if you want to stand out in a crowd then aim for our Club 29 status and fundraise or donate $2900 or more. If you want to know the steps to achieve that status please reach out to us at (714)481-5641.
Light Up Letters
One of the most basic things to do is write a letter to your friends, family and colleagues letting them know why you are participating in Light The Night. This letter will let them know that every dollar is going to find a cure to blood cancer. Below is a template of a letter you can use to reach out to your peeps. Remember the bigger you mailing list is, the more opportunity you will have to finding people who would like to donate.
Kick It Up A Notch!!
The best way to rally troops and have people help donate or fundraise is to have a Kick Off party. It can be something simple such as an ice cream social or backyard BBQ. Gather them together and let them know why you are participating and how much you would like to fundraise. This would be a good time to have a mini raffle to help your fundraising. If you let the Light The Night staff know early enough a representative can come out to you kickoff and speak!
Many don’t know but there are places that will match a certain amount of funds that is donated to an organization. All you have to do is apply. Ask your company if they have a matching gift program or click on the link below and search to see. Please be aware that some companies prefer to have you came in and ask for matching gifts rather then look them up. www.matchinggifts.com/lls
Host an Event
A great way to fundraise is to hold an event. Think of what you are interested in doing. Do you like to through parties? Play poker? Watch movies? These are ideas that can lead to great fundraising events. Holding an event will bring people together for a great cause. The Light The Night staff can help you start preparing and provide tools to host an event. Contact them today!
It Is All About the Follow Up
Follow up on your letter and/or email. Call or send a reminder to the people who haven’t donated yet. Let them know that the Light The Night event is coming up and you need their help to reach your goal! Share with them how much you’ve raised to date and let them know you are still raising money!
Change It Up a Bit
We all have loose change hanging around. Hold a fill the jar event in your office and challenge people to bring in as much loose change they can in a week to two week period. The person with the most change in their jar wins a prize.
Celebrate Good Times
Celebrate! Light The Night is over a month away. You are on your way to reaching your goal. Host a party to celebrate the upcoming Light The Night event. Charge a cover fee at the door. Make sure all guests know that donations go to LLS. Repost your link on facebook or in emails letting people know how close you are to goal and that every dollar helps get us closer to a cure.
