Please read all of the important event night updates, including the schedule of events, health and safety updates and new measures that have been put in place, and FAQ’s, on the main Columbus event page. However, we would like to provide you with additional information here.
This year, we are encouraging our teams to “BYOS”, meaning, “Bring Your Own Stuff”! This would include snacks, a blanket, maybe an activity such as a football to throw.
Registration: There will not be a Registration Area at Light The Night this year. There will be a “Donation Drop Off” Area near the tunnels where participants can drop off funds. There is no need to check in at this area or stop by this tent unless you are dropping off funds.
Well Screen and Lanterns: Once you have entered Light The Night, you and your family members can go to any lantern tent (in the tunnels) and scan the QR code on the signage to start your well screen. Once you complete the well screen and are approved, you can proceed to receive your lantern.
T-Shirts: Once an individual participant raises $100, they will receive an email from “show your logo” that asks them to redeem their t-shirt in the size they would like, and then it will be shipped to the participant. We will NOT have t-shirts at the walk this year.
Virtual Event and Covid Warnings: We are asking all unvaccinated participants, participants under 12, and patients that are less than a year out of treatment to take part in the virtual event on 10/27. Please be aware that there is a risk of Covid-19 exposure by attending our in-person event. However, if you do start to feel ill while you are at the event, we will have a First Aid tent staffed with an emergency medical professional.
Survivors: There will be a separate tent for Survivors to visit to get their Survivor Shirt, white lantern and night light. This is so you can avoid standing in line nearby others at the main lantern tents. The Survivor Circle will still take place during the Opening Ceremony; however you will not be asked to join in the circle this year. Instead, you will be asked to light your white lantern from where you are standing with your family.
Food: We will not have food this year on site, however, there will be two food trucks that you may purchase from.
Remembrance Area: We will not have the enclosed Remembrance Dome at Light The Night this year, however we will still have a Remembrance Area. Please feel free to bring a photo of your loved on to pin on the remembrance boards (please note, this may not be returned). We will also have the blood drops for you to write your loved ones name on.
VIP Area: Bright Lights and other invited guests, please visit our VIP Area, to receive a boxed meal from City BBQ, sweet treat from Nothing Bundt Cakes, and a special glow item to wear during the night!
Photo Booth: Please visit our Photo Booth, sponsored by Genentech and Zangmeister Cancer Center, to get your team’s picture taken! You will receive a printed picture on site! There will also be a large backdrop to take team pictures in front of.
Additional Sponsor Booths: Please visit our other sponsor booths and tables to take part in the fun activities and give-aways they have for you.
Team VIP Tents: These teams have raised over $10,000! Congratulations to all of our Top Teams!
Walk Route: The walk route is about 1 mile and is fully accessible.
Laser Light Show: The Laser Light Show, sponsored by UFCW1059 will begin immediately after the opening ceremony. Enjoy the special music that goes along with it!
