Mark Billings
President & CEO, Presbyterian Healthcare
Mark Billings is president of Presbyterian Healthcare. 2011 will mark his 27th year in healthcare. Born in Elkin, North Carolina, Billings started his career in the United States Navy, concluding his duty as an operational administrator at the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital in North Carolina. Billings acted as the president of Presbyterian Hospital Matthews for three years and was an operational vice president at Forsyth Medical Center for two years prior to joining Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Since beginning in his role as the president of Presbyterian Hospital and chief operating office for Presbyterian Healthcare in August of 2008, Billings has been instrumental in the entire health system's receiving Nursing "Magnet" status, an honor that fewer than five percent of national hospitals attain. Additionally, his leadership has led Presbyterian Healthcare to be awarded 27 new beds by the state of North Carolina, and he recently led a successful recertification by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Mark has a bachelor of science degree from New Hampshire College, Manchester, NH, and a master of healthcare administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Cynthia Brodhead
Duke University
As the spouse of the President of Duke University, Cynthia Brodhead devotes her energies to extending the outreach of the President to university and community constituencies. She is a member of the advisory boards of Duke's Nasher Museum of Art and Sarah P. Duke Gardens. She is a trustee of the North Carolina Humanities Council and also serves on the boards of directors of Carolina Ballet, Preservation North Carolina, and the Durham Arts Council. Before coming to Duke University in 2004, she practiced corporate and regulatory law in Connecticut for many years. She is a passionate gardener, an enthusiastic cook, and she loves to read and to travel.
