Frances Isreal

March 13, 1930—May 30, 2015

"My mom, Frances Isreal, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2011. She faced cancer like she faced everything else in her life - with a smile on her face and faith that God will guide her in his own way and on his time. Given her age, mom initially went through radiation and less aggressive treatments in lieu of chemo. She came away, a SURVIVOR, in remission for a few more years. Her favorite song was "One Day at a Time," and she definitely lived that way. During her years in remission, she didn't miss a step. She always put everyone first, taking care of many of her grandchildren, visiting ailing friends, cooking and baking for holidays, and making sure everyone had everything they needed. She would give you her last penny if that's what she thought you needed. She had a big heart and was a caregiver in every sense of the word. I know there are many lives she touched, both young and old, who have several stories of how she opened her door and her heart to them when they needed it most. She treated everyone like family, whether it was providing them with a good meal, taking them to an appointment, or just being there to talk and listen. This gave her so much joy and pleasure. Her faith was strong and kept her going. 

Unfortunately, the cancer came back in early 2015. While in the hospital, she would always say, I've got God on my side." After a series of treatments and a subsequent heart infection, she lost her battle on May 30, 2015. She was 85 years old. I know she's singing her song in heaven, 'One Day at a Time.'"

Best Advice from Ms. Frances Isreal: 

"Always treat people as you would like to be treated because you never know if you'll run into them another and they may be able to help you out. You never know what situation or problem people are dealing with on any givn day, so treat them with respect and understanding."
