At the center of every great team is the team captain. As team captain, you have taken on the extremely meaningful job of recruiting walkers to your team and managing your organization's effort to help raise funds in the battle to cure cancer.
To make the job as team captain easier, walker registration and fundraising can all be handled online. So, the more team members and donors who fundraise online, the simpler the job will be -- less paperwork (checks, forms, letters, etc.) and less expense (postage and other mailing costs). When you register, you will have access to great fundraising tips, ideas, samples and be able to create a team fundraising Web page.
Team captain responsibilities include:
- Managing the process, from setting goals to recruiting co-captains and enlisting senior staff at your organization to offer their strong endorsement of Light The Night Walk.
- Recruiting co-workers or others in your organization to join the Walk and raise funds. LLS will provide you with materials and information to assist you with recruitment
- Building and maintaining momentum, team enthusiasm and spirit up to and during the event
- Collecting money and ensuring it gets to your chapter representatives
- Celebrating your group's success at the Walk and thanking the appropriate people after the event
As a team captain, you can make a difference to the thousands of people whose lives are touched by blood cancers. The funds raised by your company or organization will be invested in critical cancer research, patient services and other activities to help enhance, prolong and save the lives of people with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
