Shawn Bowen
Charlestown, Indiana
Shawn was diagosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2008 and is undergoing a 3.5 year treatment protocol to battle his disease. Fortunately Shawn is doing very well and remains energetic despite his fight against cancer. Now six years old, he enjoys playing outside, reading books, Pokemon, playing video games, and Super Mario Brothers.
Kit Fullenlove
Louisville, Kentucky
Kit was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in August 2007, just two weeks before her 48th birthday. As part of the clinical trial in which she is participating, Kit has received two stem cell transplants and is now entering her second year of a three-year maintenance chemotherapy program. She has continued to work through her treatment as public relations manager for Baptist Hospital East. Kit is very involved with her church and various professional organizations. Once a newspaper editor, she has also received numerous journalism awards.
Cassie Rickert
Paris, Kentucky
Three-year-old Cassie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in November 2008. She is in the maintenance phase of treatment and will be receiving chemotherapy until January 2011. Cassie is a very vibrant and active girl who likes reading, coloring puzzles, decorating cupcakes, animals, and cartoons.
