Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Light The Night) Internship

Timeframe: February – May, potential to remain from June - August
Hours: 15 to 20 hours per week – unpaid internship
Organization Description:
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Light The Night is an inspirational community event held in the fall at four Indiana locations: Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Kendallville and Lafayette. Light The Night brings together friends, family and the corporate community to support patients and families who know the burden of cancer.
Duties:
The LLS intern will assist campaign staff with various areas of the planning and implementation for the Light The Night campaign. The intern’s primary concentration will be on communications planning, customer service, volunteer acquisition and management, but other duties will present themselves periodically. The following is a breakdown of potential daily activities:
- Assist with planning and implementing campaign communications plan across multiple channels
- Organize LTN involvement at various expos and fairs for Light the Night campaign
- Solicit silent auction donations and gift cards for Light the Night
- Support Light the Night retail partner programs in Indianapolis area
- Assist with volunteer acquisition and management of our volunteer program for Light The Night
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be comfortable speaking on the phone
- Interest in non-profits, marketing, fundraising and relationship-building
- Strong organizational skills; must keep detailed notes and adhere to set deadlines
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Superior customer service skills
