At just three years old, Sofia went from an active toddler to too tired to play—until a blood test revealed she had leukemia. Her family was thrust into a world of hospital stays, isolation, and fear, but they found strength and support through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Light The Night. Today, Sofia is back in school and fighting strong—families like hers need your help to keep moving forward.

Date of Event: Sunday October 19, 2025
Event Location: Lafreniere Park, 3000 Downs Blvd. Metairie, LA 70003
Parking Logistics: Lafreniere Park has ample parking. Please park at the adjacent parking lot.
Event Festivities: 5:30pm to 9:00pm
Opening Ceremony/Walk Begins: 6:45 pm
Post Event Festivities: We will not host Post Event Festivities due to park restrictions.

How long is the walk?
The walk is approximately 1.5 miles.

What can we bring to this event?
The following are allowed at this event: Dogs, Strollers, Wheelchairs, Scooters, Skateboards.

Is there a bag policy?
No, there is not a bag policy for this event.

Is there food available?
Food for purchase will be available on site. Please bring all forms of payment.

What if it rains on event day?
This event is rain or shine.

How can I pick up a lantern?
All registered participants receive a lantern to be picked up at the Lantern Tent at the walk.

Is the event appropriate for children?
Yes! Light The Night is a multi-generational event! The Kids Zone will feature many different games and activities for children.

Do kids need to register?
Children 12 years old and younger do not need to register but must be accompanied by an adult to receive a lantern at the event.

How do I get a T-Shirt?
All registered participants who raise $100+ on their individual fundraising page will receive a t-shirt that can be picked up at the walk.

Is there a way for us to donate funds on-site? 
Yes! New for this year, we will have a donation station that will give participants the chance to donate on-site using a credit card. Thank you gifts will be provided for donations over $25 or more, including the chance to name a star after a loved one with support from International Star Directory, Staracle for all gifts of $100 or more.
