Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Light The Night
General Walk Night Questions:
Q: When is the Walk?
The Walk will be held on Friday, October 25th, 2019. The opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. Park will open at 5:30p.m.
Q: Where is the Walk located?
The Walk will be held in Downtown Columbus at McFerson Commons, 218 West St., Columbus, OH 43215.
Q: Where do I park?
There is a variety of parking options near McFerson Commons in the Arena District.
Q: What is the schedule the day of the Walk?
Check-in & Festivities: 5:30p.m.
Opening Ceremony and Survivor Circle: 7:30 p.m.
Walk Kickoff: 7:45 p.m.
Q: When does the Walk end?
The walk is done at a casual pace; it’s not a race. Walkers will start at 7:45 p.m. and will return by 8:15 p.m. After the walk, walkers will stop at the Warming Nook, sponsored by RED Capital Group to pick up a treat and head back to the park for a light show sponsored by UFCW Local 1059.
Q: What if I have people that want to come, but don't want to walk?
They are still encouraged to check in and enjoy the festivities while other participants complete the Walk.
Q: What is the VIP Tent?
The VIP tent is for top fundraising teams, individuals, and sponsors. Teams who raise $10,000 or more receive 10 passes, and individuals who raise $1,000 or more receive 2 tickets. VIP tent members can check in at the VIP tent on Walk Night. The VIP tent will be catered and drinks will be provided.
Q:What is Team Tent Village?
Team Tent Village is the area reserved for Teams that have raised $10,000 or more. These teams receive their own team tent, printed banner and other incentives on Walk Night.
Q: What happens if it rains?
We walk rain or shine. If we do get a little “liquid sunshine,” just bring an umbrella and your puddle jumpers! Check the forecast before you head out for the night!
Q: Where will I find the rest of my team?
We encourage you to meet up with your team at the Arch at the south end of McFerson Commons, team photos will be taken under the arch starting at 6 p.m. Bring your banners and wear your team t-shirts!
Q: How can I be included in the Survivor Circle?
Gather around the Beam of Hope with your unlit white lantern at 7:30 p.m.
Fundraising:
Q: Is there a fundraising minimum?
No, there is not a fundraising minimum to participate in the Walk. All registered participants will recieve a lantern. We encourage all participants to beat the national average of $250. You must raise $100 to earn a Light the Night T-shirt. To receive a T-shirt you need to raise $100 as an individual, not $100 as a team.
Q: How will I know how much money I've raised?
Volunteers at the Registration Tent will have this information. You can also check your online fundraising page, just go to our website, and click login in the top right corner.
Q: How do I turn in cash and checks?
- My LLS App The easiest way to accept/deposit a check donation is by using the MyLLS app.
The app's cutting-edge features include the ability to accept and immediately process donations via credit card and check, and social media integration.
- Checks can also be mailed or brought to the LLS office. Be sure to include the name of the participant to whom the donation should be credited to. Please do not mail cash. Cash should be turned into a money order and mailed, or delivered in person to the LLS office or at Light The Night.

- Bank Days
Bank Days are held in our office so participants can stop by to turn in your funds and pick up your blank banners, t-shirts and lanterns.
Columbus Bank Days are all held at the LLS office 2215 Citygate Dr, Apt A from:
- October 4 from 3-7p.m.
- October 12 from 3-7p.m.
- October 18 from 3-7p.m.
- October 23 from 12-7p.m.
Check-in:
Q: Where do I go when I get there? Do I need to check in?
All participants will need to check in at the Registration Tent. This is where you can turn in any donations. Lanterns and T-shirts can be picked up at their respective tents.

Q: Can I use strollers and wheelchairs?
Yes!
Q: How long is the Walk?
About 1.5 miles.
Q: Can I bring pets?
Pets are welcome! Please be sure they are leashed.
